Working Saturday

There's nothing like a greasy Wimpy dagwood for breakfast. Up at sparrow fart again to take Ronwen through to the Transvaal Museum in Pretoria where she's doing a fossil preparation workshop today. Now to get back to work...

I also noticed for the first time that after all the talk and PR, the city of Pretoria has finally been renamed to Tshwane. Ch-ch-ch-changes...

The official government city website is www.tshwane.gov.za.

It proudly states "Welcome to the city of Tshwane".

The city is still called Pretoria, the Metro area has been Tshwane for a couple of years.

The City of Tshwane municipality includes Pretoria, Centurion, and Akasia. Pretoria is part of Tshwane, but it hasn't been renamed. There was a proposal to this last year, but a huge outcry from the residents caused the name-change to be put on hold (probably until the next local elections).

Ah, OK, thanks. I'd seen a couple of 'City of Tshwane' signs on dumpsters and the like and took that to mean that the name had officially changed. The whole city/metro thing still gets me confuzzled, but the current set-up is probably a reasonable way to keep everyone happy. For now.
